google searched: why is it rocko’s “MODERN” life?
came across this in the process~
“If you have the urge to create. To finally pursue the gift you know you have inside of you. Put down your charge card, get off the merry-go-round of consumer spending the corporations want us to be on, and make some room in your life to be an artist.
The biggest reason I’ve heard for not pursuing art, is that everyone feels that they can’t make any money from it. But I believe it’s more of “I can’t make enough money to have all of the stuff I want”.
Examine what you want more.
I personally never felt I had a choice as to what I was going to do with my life. Art was it for me. I never thought about the alternative life working a normal 9 to 5 job. What I found is that, the more I committed to the life, the more providence provided for it. I never imagined I would make the money I have, but I feel it’s because I‘ve always loved what I do. Yes, in the beginning I had challenges due to lack of money. But I made choices of what to give up in order to pursue the life I wanted. Books like “Your Money or your Life” by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin help to find the strength behind our choices. It doesn’t seem to be the American way, especially when we have a president whose answer to overcoming grief is to go shopping. But life is more than that. It’s more than spending, and it’s more than working 40 hours a week at a job that you don’t like.
Take the risk. Use your gift. We will all benefit from it. Especially you.”
